Cranberry Orange rice crispy treats

An easy festive recipe you can make at home! If you love rice crispies but often find they’re a bit too sweet, this tart and balanced recipe is for you. I’ve added the classic combination of cranberry, orange and chocolate into these rice crispy treats. The orange peel adds a hint of citrus, the dried cranberries add tartness and the chocolate compliments both of these flavours. - To get into the festive mood, I’ve cut these treats into pine tree shaped slices and decorated them accordingly with chocolate Here’s the recipe!

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter 250g of small marshmallows (approx works) 6 cups rice crispies 3/4 cup dried cranberries 2 Tbsp dried orange peel bits 1/4 -1/3 cups melted chocolate melts

Directions

1. In a glass bowl, melt the butter. 2. Add in the marshmallows + mix with butter. Microwave for 1-2 minutes until marshmallows start to melt. Then microwave for another minute to ensure they’re fully melted. 3. Add in rice crispies and mix into marshmallow mixture. 4. Add in orange peel bits + cranberries and continue to mix until evenly distributed. 5. Spread onto parchment paper evenly and let cool for at least 2 hours. 6. Cut into triangles and drizzle melted chocolate melts on top. Enjoy and store in a sealed container for up to 5 days.
